Youngsters take action for Europe through sport

“Play Europe! Youngsters take action for Europe through sport” è uno scambio giovanile attuato dalla Fondazione flaminia e dal Cusb di Ravenna e co-finanziato dal programma Erasmus Plus settore giovanile.

“Play Europe! “si è svolto a Ravenna dal 15 al 21 giugno 2015 ed ha visto coinvolti 30 giovani provenienti da Speyer e Chichester,  in quanto realtà legate a Ravenna da rapporti di gemellaggio.

Tale progetto ha perseguito l’obiettivo di stimolare l’acquisizione e l’incremento delle conoscenze e competenze dei partecipanti e promuovere l’identità europea e i suoi valori nei giovani attraverso lo sport, quale strumento di promozione di valori positivi, di collaborazione e di socializzazione.

Attività sportive, quali beach soccer, beach volley, canottaggio e staffetta, ma anche workshop, focus group, laboratori creativi e dibattiti interattivi, sono state le attività realizzate per esplorare i valori europei e i valori dello sport, così da creare un connubio tra i due ambiti e aiutare i giovani a percepire l’Europa più vicina.

L’Europa, lo sport, la partecipazione attiva, il coinvolgimento e l’entusiasmo sono stati gli elementi centrali del progetto, che hanno reso questa settimana un’esperienza positiva e di crescita per i giovani partecipanti.

“È stata una settimana intensa ed emozionante di sport, amicizia, risate e impegno che porteremo a lungo nel cuore.”

“Play Europe! Youngsters take action for Europe through sport” is a Youth exchange carried out by the collaboration of Fondazione Flaminia and CUSB (University Sport Center)  of Ravenna and it was co-financed by the program “Erasmus plus, youth action”.

“Play Europe!” took place in Ravenna from the 15th to the 21st of June 2015. The participants were 30 youngsters from Speyer and Chichester, which are two twins town relate to Ravenna.

The aims of the project were to stimulate the comprehension of the knowledge about the EU and to cultivate and develop the European identity and its values among the young citizens. The sport was the main tool used to reach the goals, but also it stimulated the socialization and the collaboration between the young.

Several activities were implemented, such as sports activities (beach soccer, beach volley, rowing and relay race), workshop, debates, and focus group. Though the activities, we pointed out all together the positive values both of Europe and the sport, so we could create a connection between them. These activities helped the participants to feel much more close and open the European community to them.

During the week the youngsters put themselves in the line: they compared themselves to each other in the group with great enthusiasm, around the keywords of the project. They got to know themselves and other people, they made new friends and they develop several capabilities. The Europe, sport, active participation, involvement and enthusiasm were the central elements of the project and thanks to them the week of “Play Europe” was a great experience.

“It was an intensive and emotional week of sports, of friendship and activities, the memories of which we will keep in our hearts for a long time”.
